FAQ – Spring Walk 2016

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) For the Spring Walk Event, April 16th, 9:15am

1)       What is the purpose of this event?

The Walk is designed to promote cultural exchange between the Wuhan people & people from all over the world. The event has an After Walk Party to help raise money for the Hubei Children affected by Aids/HIV Education Fund by Prof. Gui.

2)       Where does the money go?

Women of Wuhan will donate money raised from this event to the Hubei Children Affected by Aids/HIV Education Fund.  This educational fund is founded by David Wilmots & Professor Gui at Wuhan Zhongnan Hospital.  This fund supports the education and living expenses of children who have lost one or both of their parents to Aids/HIV.  In China, the government provides free education for all children up to the age of 14 years; this fund allows these children to continue their education.  From 2008 to 2014 the Women of Wuhan have sponsored around 100 children in their education.

3)       What is the registration fee for the walk?

Every walker is invited to donate 50RMB each or 100RMB for a family.

4)       How can I raise more money for the event?

Additional donations are welcome from anyone. Your family, friends & colleagues can donate even if they are not attending the walk or the party.

5)       Is the event suitable for family?

YES! Families are encouraged to walk along with children. You can walk the full 4km or as much as you feel comfortable with.

6)       What is the enrolment procedure?

Women of Wuhan will send an RSVP invite and registration form to all members. Participants should respond to the invite so that we know how many people to expect. Please bring your registration form to Seattle Breeze in Wuhan Tiandi after the walk.

Due to organisational matters we only will be able to collect everything AFTER the walk in Seattle Breeze Café Bar. If you are unable to join us after the walk, please let us know!!

OPTIONAL: As you collect donations, please list the sponsor’s names on the registration form so that we can send them a thank you note after the walk.

7)       What should I prepare or bring to the event?

No preparation is necessary for the event, just what you would normally do for going for a walk. Please note there will be no storage provided at the starting point. Everybody is responsible for their own belongings! No pets are allowed.

8)       What facilities are available on the route?

The Spring Walk takes place in the Yangtze River Park. The park contains public restrooms, snack & drink vendors, playgrounds, benches & other facilities normally available in public parks in Wuhan.

9)       How do I get to the starting point?

The starting point of the event is at the Jianghan Park, Lu Guo Qiao Road entrance in Hankou. It is just a short walk away from Wuhan Tiandi (near the No.2 bridge).  It is also just a few minutes away from the Huang Pu Road station (黄浦路) of Metro Line 1. 10)   Will there be any activities scheduled for after the event?

YES! Please head to Seattle Breeze after the finish of the Spring Walk for registration and collection of donations. A surprise will be waiting for every child who participated!! There will be one free coffee, tea or soft drink provided by Seattle Breeze. Home-made cakes prepared by our members will be available on a first come first serve basis, so hurry if you want some delicious cake. Seattle Breeze has a special promotion, buy one get one free draft beer and a special offer lunch for all those who have signed up for the lunch.  There will also be a raffle draw with good prizes!!
